Welcome to Future Teaching Scholars
The Future Teaching Scholars (FTS) Programme has been nurturing a new generation of passionate and talented maths and physics teachers across England since 2016. Funded by the Department for Education, this innovative route into teaching was designed for exceptional maths and physics students with the potential to become good and outstanding teachers.
These teacher trainees, known as Scholars, continued in-depth study of their subjects at university whilst undertaking practical in-school experiences and training sessions. As a result, the FTS Programme boasts above national average teacher retention rates – with 90.4% of Scholars who started ITT remaining in the profession after three years as of the 2023-24 academic year.
