Welcome to Future Teaching Scholars

The Future Teaching Scholars programme is a new and exciting route into teaching. It's designed for exceptional Maths or Physics students who want to teach. We are currently looking for schools that have appropriate vacancies for Scholars to complete their Initial Teacher Training (ITT) in 2020. If you think that your learners deserve to be taught by passionate subject specialists who have three years experience and are committed to effective teaching and learning, then please get in touch.

Upon joining the programme, Scholars access a valuable scholarship package that includes:

  • a £15,000 grant whilst studying for their Maths- or Physics-related degree
  • extensive personal and professional development support for 6 years based in outstanding Teaching Schools including:
    • national and regional events exclusively for Future Teaching Scholars
    • exciting school based activities during their undergraduate years
    • opportunities to be involved in research to improve Maths and Physics teaching
  • a place on a salaried Initial Teacher Training (ITT) course tailored to their needs, resulting in the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • a pre-ITT course in the summer after they graduate
  • support in finding your their teaching job after achieving QTS
  • membership of an elite cohort of Future Teaching Scholars
